Mason Matters Mission

Our Mission

The mission of the Mason County Health Coalition, Mason Matters, is to bring together members of the community to help improve the health and wellbeing of our county. This is achieved through different projects that are designed by the coalition's workgroups. The workgroups include Behavioral Health, Access to Healthcare, Education and Employment, Healthy Living, Housing and Homelessness, and Empowered Families.

Mason Matters, plays a direct role in shaping the quality of life across Mason County. By bringing together residents, service providers, educators, nonprofits, and local partners, the coalition focuses on practical solutions to real challenges facing people who live and work here.

Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, Mason Matters operates through focused workgroups that reflect the county’s most pressing needs. Behavioral Health efforts address access to mental health and substance use resources, helping reduce barriers to care in both rural and urban parts of the county. Access to Healthcare initiatives work to connect people with services, transportation, and information—critical in a region where distance and provider shortages can limit options.

The Education and Employment workgroup looks at long-term wellbeing by supporting pathways to stable jobs, training, and career readiness. These efforts strengthen families and help keep local talent in the community. Healthy Living projects promote prevention, physical activity, and nutrition, aiming to reduce chronic health issues before they become crises.

Housing and Homelessness initiatives focus on stability, recognizing that safe housing is foundational to physical and mental health. Meanwhile, Empowered Families programs support parents and caregivers with resources, education, and community connections that help households thrive.

Together, these coordinated efforts create measurable impacts across Mason County. By aligning projects with local needs and encouraging collaboration, Mason Matters helps ensure that health, wellbeing, and opportunity are not isolated services, but shared community priorities that benefit everyone who calls the county home.
